Malibu Moos, a hidden gem!

I always go to Fish Creek on Monday night.  Been doing it for years.  During the summer season it’s nice to enjoy seasonal places, and that’s also the night I treat myself to frozen custard.  Often, that’s at Malibu Moos!  Located at the end of the alley behind the Bayside (where I start my Mondays (!), moos has a great selection of custards and mix-ins.  Having spent a bit of my career in the ice cream business, I know a good product when I taste the vanilla, and trust me, this stuff is good. I also enjoy mix-in, cold stone shops where you can pick this and that and watch some young college girl mix up your custard, but then, I digress.  Moos is in a great location right next to the Fish Creek marina and park, so you can watch the activity down there as the day ends and the cool breezes blow in from the bay. Here’s the website Malibu Moos.  I took some pictures Monday but they weren’t very good so I’m not going to post them, but stop in yourself and check it...

Have you ever been to Egg Harbor on the 4th of July?

Have you ever been to Egg Harbor for the celebration?  It’s quite a party! There’s a parade Fireworks  Food And fun! And there’s lots more to do all throughout the County!  Egg Harbor’s fireworks are on the 3rd (as always) and the parade goes right past the Lull-Abi on the 4th. So come on up, I still have a few rooms left at the Lull-Abi, including those great single queen rooms with the balcony so you can sit and watch the parade go by.  There is a two night minimum for the holiday. Find your room right here and make an online reservation or give me a call...

What’s a pocket park?

As some of you know, I am once again Village trustee, and this tour of duty has me overseeing Parks and Public Works. Great gig! We decided to update some of the old benches and plantings downtown that had seen better days. So, we built 4 of these pocket parks. Construction is done, next step is adding flowers and color. Check them out next time you are in...

Sunsets in Door County, a perfect end to your day!

It always amazes me how beautiful the sunsets are in Door County. Here is a picture I took in 2010 at the  Egg Harbor marina. Sometimes I just walk down between rooms 7&8 for a quick sunset, a tip at the Lull-Abi is room 24 for sunset viewing off the deck.  Anyway, there are lots of places to watch sunsets here on the “bay side”, and here’s another video from my buddy Jon with some ideas! Enjoy the...

The Beer is Here!

At the Lull-Abi, it can sometimes get a little hectic, which sometimes calls for a beer.  Well, rather than being selfish, I decided to get a beer license a couple of years ago (interesting fact, Egg Harbor has more alcohol outlets per capita than any other community in the state of Wisconsin!) so I can sell beer to my guests. My buddy, Matt Bley from Kay Distributing, has helped me select some interesting Great Lakes area beers.  We now have: New Glarus Spotted Cow New Glarus Moon Man IPA New Glarus Two Women Lakefront Wavehopper Lakefront Boatilla Bells Amber Ale Lake Louis Scottish Ale And Coors Light for those who just want to wet their whistle! I have it warm and cold, and if you let me know when you make the reservation I’ll be sure to have a six-pack in your room fridge for only $10. Be sure to stop in and check it...

MacReady Artisan Bread…new to Egg Harbor

My buddy Mark stopped in today with a package under his arm and a grin on his face.  “Get a bread knife”, he told me.  So I did, and he pulls this beautiful loaf of fresh baked bread out of this bag, and cuts off a big chunk to try.  Turns out we have a new artisan bread bakery in the Village called  MacReady Artisan Bread, located in the former Cupola House Cafe building, right across the street from Parador restaurant, behind the Cupola House. Good stuff!  So, I headed down to check it out.  The bakery is owned by Michael and Jenny MacReady, they just opened today.  It’s a good selection of artisan breads, artisan cheeses, and ice cream.  Soon they will be making sandwiches, too. Stop in and check it out.  Here is their website ....
